Why I Started This Blog: A Journey Toward Connection, Wellness, and Self-Discovery
Hey there! I’m so excited to welcome you to my little corner of the internet. My name is Jamiah, and I’m a 22-year-old recent college graduate from New York with big dreams and a passion for mental health, wellness, and connecting with others. I’ve started this blog to share pieces of my life, my hobbies, and most importantly, my journey toward understanding and caring for mental health. I’m also on a mission to build a community where women can come together, support one another, and thrive.
Why Mental Health & Wellness?
Ever since I can remember, mental hygiene has always been a topic close to my heart. Growing up in a fast-paced world like New York, I’ve seen firsthand how easy it is to get caught up in the hustle and forget to take care of ourselves—especially mentally and emotionally. Whether it’s the pressure of school, family, or even the constant comparison game we all tend to play on social media, it’s easy to feel like we’re not enough or that we have to be “on” all the time.
As a recent college graduate, I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs. The transition from being a student to “what comes next” is a huge life change, and with it, comes its own mental health challenges. But through it all, I’ve learned just how important it is to talk about mental health openly and seek out ways to heal, grow, and feel good in our own skin.
My dream is to one day become a clinical psychologist, but I also want to help people now—whether that’s through sharing my personal experiences, opening up conversations about wellness, or offering tips and resources for self-care. I truly believe that mental health shouldn’t be a taboo topic, and that the more we talk about it, the more empowered we become.
Connecting with Other Women
A huge part of why I wanted to create this blog is to connect with other women who share similar experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Whether you’re going through a tough time, looking for ways to improve your mental health, or simply want to feel less alone in this world, I’m here to let you know that you’re not. I hope this blog can be a safe space for us to chat about everything from dealing with stress to celebrating our wins, big and small.
Hobbies and Day-to-Day Experiences
Beyond mental health, I’ve got a ton of hobbies and passions that I want to share with you all! From the books I’m reading to the new hobbies I’m trying out (and maybe failing at), I want to bring you along for the ride. I’ll also be sharing insights from my everyday experiences as a young woman navigating life after college—everything from dealing with imposter syndrome, learning how to balance work and self-care, and figuring out what kind of person I want to be in the world.
I’ll be writing about my personal growth, the things I’m passionate about, and maybe even a few lessons I’ve learned the hard way (because we’ve all been there, right?). Life is a journey, and I can’t wait to share mine with you all.
